"Now we're going to march again, and we've got to march again.... For when people get caught up with that which is right and they are willing to sacrifice for it, there is no stopping point short of victory."

    Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
    Memphis, Tennessee
    April 3, 1968

    Local Participation
Last year, 220 area residents traveled with us to Washington to mark the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Among these were over 50 college students from Edinboro University, Gannon University, Merchyhurst College, and Penn State Behrend; 50 middle-school students, several organized church groups, and many families with children of all ages.

    The Trip
The many hours on the road and on the cold streets of Washington can be exhausting, but through their trials many marchers have gained a new sense of solidarity with the unborn and with the pro-life cause.
The March for Life will fall on a Friday this January. This is good news for many of the marchers who normally have to go to work or school on the day after the March. This time they will be able to enjoy a day off instead.      Marchers will board Anderson Coach & Travel buses at the St. George Church parking lot, 5145 Peach St., Erie, at 11:00 PM, Thursday evening, January 21. Cars must be parked along the northern perimeter of the parking lot, where they are less likely to interfere with regular church activities.
Our group will arrive in Washington at RFK Stadium at approximately 7:30 am. The buses will remain parked at the stadium throughout the day until everyone returns nine hours later, at 5:00 pm.
We will return to Erie approximately 1:00 AM, Saturday morning, January 23 depending on traffic and road conditions. The bus trip squeezes the entire March for Life experience into about 26 hours!

    Places to Visit
Although united by a common cause, People for Life's marchers are a diverse group, drawn from all across the northwestern Pennsylvania area. When they arrive in Washington, they break into smaller groups and spend the morning visiting a variety of attractions in our nation's capitol.
Points of special interest include government sites such as the Capitol Building, White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and Vietnam Wall; the March for Life headquarters and exhibits at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill; National Right to Life's new headquarters at 512 l0th Street NW, right across the street from Ford's Theater; and the United States Holocaust Museum.

    Looking Out for Each Other
You won't need to worry if you are unfamiliar with Washington or not with a group of friends. Your bus captain will carefully review everything you need to know, and you will be given an opportunity to team up with a small group that will be guided throughout the course of the day by one of People for Life's many March for Life veterans.

    Sponsorships
Students and others on tight budgests are encouraged to inquire about sponsorships. If you would like to help sponsor one or more deserving individuals (someone to attend the March for Life in your place, perhaps), this would be very much appreciated!
