Abortion Mill Flunks in the Public Opinion Department

People for Life will conduct another demonstration opposing the opening of an abortion facility in Erie on Tuesday, April 25, 2000, from Noon to 1:00 PM. The demonstration will take place at the Professional Building, 1611 Peach St., Erie, where Dr. Steven Chase Brigham is trying to open an abortion business.

A tally of the signatures received from area residents opposed to the opening of this abortion facility is now displayed on the People for Life website, www.peopleforlife.org. The number of signatures currently stands at 20,076.

An on-line poll conducted by the Times-News' GoErie.com website and concluded just today, seems to support People for Life's contention that Erie is a community which values children and respects women - a rather unlikely place to put an abortion facility. The question was simply, "Should Dr. Brigham get approval to open an abortion clinic?" At 7:00 AM this morning, the results were as follows:

Yes, I believe in a woman's right to choose: 4%
Yes, he has a legal right to do this: 1%
Yes, the community should have a local facility: 0%
No, because of his questionable reputation: 3%
No, the community should be able to reject this: 18%
No, I am 100% against abortion: 70%
