Demonstrations Friday and Saturday - Born Alive Infants Protection Act
In another matter, People for Life commends two fine members of Pennsylvania's Congressional Delegation for sponsoring a bill to ensure that all babies are treated like human beings - at least after they are born. The legislation is designed to stop the killing of infants born alive during attempted abortions. Sen. Rick Santorum is the primary sponsor of the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act in the U.S. Senate. Rep. Melissa Hart is the primary sponsor of the same bill in the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill was introduced in both houses of Congress yesterday. The same bill was passed by the House in the previous Congress, 318-15, but it was never taken up in the Senate. One member of Congress from Pennsylvania, Chaka Fattah, a democrat, voted against the bill. Pro-choice organizations, such as the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL), are adamantly opposed to this legislation -- making it just a little easier for everyone to understand why we often prefer to say "pro-death" instead of "pro-choice." Under the previous administration, the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act faced the likelihood of a presidential veto. Thankfully, those days are over.
